Friends have an Annual meeting, to which all members are invited. It’s a great chance to catch up with old friends and make new friendships. We have all at sometime had a connection with British Girlguiding Overseas (formerly BGIFC) and have fond memories and many adventures to recall. The formal business includes reports from the Commissioner for BGO and Chair of Friends, adoption of the Annual accounts and usually a guest speaker.

The 2018 AGM was held in Stratford-upon-Avon at Holy Trinity Church Hall and over 30 of our members were treated to a great buffet lunch. After the drawing of our fundraising 100 Club the formalities concluded with an inspiring talk from Liz Formby, an ex-Guider who now volunteers with ACEF, Akamba Children’s Education Fund. A charity supporting  education and welfare of vulnerable children in Kenya.

Despite the rain over the weekend we all had a chance for some sightseeing, shopping, cream teas and excellent dinners. Once again Friends will be offering financial support to our members selected for amazing adventures with Girlguiding.

We are making plans for an AGM overseas next year so watch this space for more details.

Don’t forget to spread the Friends of BGO word by purchasing our fabulous notelet cards. Details below.
